Saiyad Muzaffar Hussain
Mr. Saiyad Muzzafar Hussain is well known for the multi-layer development that he enabled access to. As a Member of Legislative Committee, he has been serving the people of Mira Road and channeling development in that area. Apart from being a responsible businessman, he is also a successful entrepreneur heading Asmita Group, a corporate house with 25 years of excellence behind it. He is also actively involved with the Mira-Bhayander City (District) Youth Congress Committee, which covers two major towns as Mira Road and Bhayander, and also the Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation (MBMC) comprising 79 Municipal Corporators.

During his early days Mr. Hussain served as the President of Mira Road Ward. This tenure enabled him to interact closely with the residents of Mira Road and understanding their problems. From here, Mr. Hussain held many coveted positions in the order of becoming a Municipal Corporator, closely followed by being the Executive President and Vice-President of MPCC, Deputy Mayor of MBMC and General Secretary, Maharashtra Youth Congress. In 2004, he was successfully elected for the Maharashtra Legislative Council. Following his outstanding contributions during the tenure of 2004 – 2010, he received the “Best Parliamentarian Award 2009” from Her Excellency the President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil for his contribution to parliamentary practices and governance.

As a Member of Legislative Committee, Mr. Hussain played a key role in solving major infrastructure problems like enabling rationing shops, gas connections, BEST bus services, street lights, water supply, drainage, railway stations & services, MTNL, cremation & burial Ground, morgue room, joggers park, blood bank, municipal hospital, library, and parks. He also got the sanction of Rs. 1950 Crore from JNURM project which includes Metro rail connections to Thane and Mumbai. With the Solid waste project complete at Uttan an additional water supply of 35 MLD.

As the Chairman of Asmita Group, he is steering the group to newer heights of success. Under his able stewardship the group is currently operating in the Infrastructure, Education and Healthcare sectors with a strong accent on social responsibility. The group can be credited with cherishing the vision and ambition of creating Mira Road as a self-contained township providing quality education, homes and social institutions. From the inception of the Railway Station to the current ambitious project of constructing a world-class multi-specialty, tertiary care institute, Umrao Hospitals, the contribution of the Group has been immense.

Mr. Hussain has worked closely with many Social Organizations and NGO’s across the Globe. He has played an active role being the Member of World Water Council (Japan), Indian Muslim Federation (United Kingdom) and the Indian Islamic Cultural Center at New Delhi. He has also been conferred the honorary position of Vice-President, Bharat Sevak Samaj, Maharashtra.

As a man who believes in serving people, Mr. Hussain has played a pivotal role in instituting many social welfare trusts. He has served as the trustee for many organizations like the Sultan Khan EducationTrust, the Jama MasjidAl-shams and Madrassa Trust and Darullum Mohammediya Madressa Trust, which work towards betterment of facilities in communities. He has held the coveted position of a Patron Member with ISKON and Akshar Purushottam Swami Narayan Trust. Also, he currently serves as the trustee for Umrao Institute of Medical Science and Research Trust, which is behind Mira Road’s first multi-specialty tertiary care institution, Umrao Hospitals for which he is the Chairman.

Dr. Ashish Banerji
Dr. Ashish Banerji did his MBBS from Armed Forces Medical College in Pune in the year 1977. He got commissioned into the Indian Air Force in March 1978, did his MS (General Surgery) from PuneUniversity in 1987, and served in the Armed Forces in various capacities till the year 2000, when he took premature retirement as a Wing Commander. After that, he has worked in several prestigious organizations, such as Ruby Hall Clinic in Pune (for four years). He was instrumental in setting up and commissioning Bombay Hospital Indore, a 550-bed project of Bombay Hospital Trust, and has served as its first Medical Director. He later moved to Fortis Hospital, Mohali, as its Director and also had a stint in Bahrain where, under his stewardship, a new Hospital, Royal Bahrain Hospital, commenced its operations. He has been the CEO of Umrao Hospital since April 2011. Dr. Banerji has a special interest in Infection Control and Quality, is multilingual and loves to teach.
