One of the institution’s earliest milestones was the establishment of a world-class tertiary care hospital in the extended suburbs of North Mumbai. Conceived as a 14-storeyed, 330-bedded multispeciality healthcare facility, the hospital commenced operations towards the end of 2010 with the aim of delivering advanced medical care within a patient-centric and restorative environment.
Designed to provide comprehensive clinical solutions across major medical specialities, the institution brought together consultation, diagnostics, treatment, and critical care under one integrated system. Supported by state-of-the-art infrastructure and a strong commitment to quality healthcare, the facility continues to serve patients through a multidisciplinary and compassionate approach.
Today, the management and operations of the hospital facility are entrusted to Wockhardt Hospitals Ltd., ensuring continued excellence in patient care and healthcare delivery.

Founded in 1989, The Umrao Institute of Medical Science and Research began with a clear and purposeful vision: to bridge critical gaps in healthcare access while contributing meaningfully to community development and social well-being.
What started as an initiative focused on supporting socially and economically underserved individuals gradually evolved into a broader institution dedicated to healthcare, education, awareness, and outreach.
